2nd and 3rd day activity report from U-15 Japan Women's Selection squad’s training camp

06 October 2015

2nd and 3rd day activity report from U-15 Japan Women's Selection squad’s training camp

The players started full-scale training sessions on the second day. They held two training sessions – one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. In the evening, OHNO Makoto, the National Training Centre Coach, gave a lecture on “analysis of the Women’s World Cup”.

On the third day, the players held two-hour training sessions both in the morning and the afternoon, mainly focusing on “attack and defence in front of goal” and “attack and defence from crosses”. After dinner, the players listened to a lecture by OBE Yumi Chief Supervisor, and were divided into two groups to hold meetings. They are to play a training match against the U-16 Chinese Taipei Women's National Team on the last day of the camp.

Players' Comments

KOIKE Mari (Tokai University Shizuoka Shoyo Junior & Senior High School)
The main theme of the second day was to “steal the ball”. I’m not good at defence. Having said that, I realised that defence is vital to initiate attacks. So I’d like to work on improving my defence. I also learned a lot from other players’ swift defence. Delivering your opinions to my teammates is essential on all the occasions.

Through this training camp, I focus more on “stealing the ball” in defence and on “taking shots for certain” in attack. I’ll continue practicing hard back in my own team, understanding more what we learned in the camp to achieve my aim – “Joining Nadeshiko Japan”.

KATO Shiori (F.C. Oribe Tajimi Junior Youth)
We practiced crosses on the third day. I tried to make it clear in a timely manner where I wanted the ball, when receiving crosses. I also adjusted my movements when the timing was not right.

As it was a difficult play for me, I refocussed my attention on it. We’ll meet the U-16 Chinese Taipei Women's National Team on the last day of the camp. Although they are physically stronger and speedier, I’d like to stay calm to play our style. I’ll play hard to show off my best performance until the final whistle.

SANJO Rio (Albirex Niigata Ladies U-15)
was especially impressed with the defence training during the camp, as I realised that I can attack better if I defend well. In the lecture by the coach Ohno, I also learned that Japanese players make a good impression abroad by being very polite and cheerful.

We also thought through what we should be capable of at the third grade of junior high school. I figured out that “to think and act by ourselves”, “to think about others around you”, and “to continue on the path you have decided” are all so important. I’d like to work on these, which I haven’t been able to do. I’ll set aims in each training session and practice hard to achieve them.
