U-19 Japan Women’s National Team short-listed squad training camp Day 2 (12/1)

02 December 2015

U-19 Japan Women’s National Team short-listed squad training camp Day 2 (12/1)

U-19 Japan Women’s National Team short-listed squad attended the second day of their training camp.

The players started with some sprints to get themselves in good condition.

They were divided into four teams to run a fixed distance around a 300-metre track within a limited time. The players started with five laps in a time of one minute and 20 seconds for each lap, followed by four laps in one minute and 15 seconds each, and moved onto three laps in one minute and 10 seconds each.

They gradually accelerated the speed. All the players in the teams had to finish running within the time. As they continued, it became tougher. The players encouraged each other and finished running. After the sprints, they practiced keeping possession in a 10-a-side style and played a 7-on-7 mini game.

In the afternoon, the team focused on practicing defence, and moved onto a Intrasquad game to finish the session.

Players' Comments

SHIMIZU Risa (Nippon TV Beleza)
We focused on defence today. We’ve been practicing our defence since we started the U-19 Japan Women's National squad, and showed our achievement in the AFC U-19 Women's Championship in August. Having said that, there are still problems to be fixed. I expect that we will have to defend even more solidly in the world championship. So I’ll practice each play in detail.

KOJIMA Miku (Albirex Niigata Ladies)
I realised the importance of increasing speed for foresight and judgment. I’d like to practice harder to be able to cooperate better with my teammates. As we still have two more days in this training camp, I’d like to stay eager to learn.

MIURA Momo (Nippon Sport Science University)
I’d like to raise the level of my personal skills by playing with new teammates, competing near the ball and doing 1-on-1. I also would like to understand and try tactics out, so that I can use them in matches. As there are some players, with whom I have never played before, I’ll communicate well with them. Without wasting our time, I’d like to learn everyday to improve myself.

ICHISE Nana (Tokiwagi Gakuen High School)
We did hard sprints and moved on to a mini game in the morning. During the mini game, I should have caught up with some of the passes, which I couldn’t. Also I made some judgment mistakes, and did not concentrate well enough under physical pressure.

I know it’s not easy to win a game in the world championship, and matches will be tough. In those circumstances, I’d like to stay focused throughout the 90 minutes, choosing the best move from my options, and continuing to run. I’ll practice hard, so that I can contribute to my team.

MINAMI Moeka (Urawa Reds Ladies Youth)
I focused on defence in the afternoon practice session. I remained conscious of the competitiveness through the 1-on-1, the speed of sliding, and the strength deployed near the ball. During a training match, although I thought about swapping marks and moving the defensive line while playing, I made careless mistakes, which out the team at some disadvantage. I’d like to practice hard to reduce careless mistakes in the remaining two days.
