The 24th All Japan University Women’s Football Championship to get started tomorrow!
25 December 2015
As anticipated by many, the 24th All Japan University Women’s Football Championship, so called “INKARE” in Japanese, get their matches started on 26 December. The 24 teams who survived out of regional qualifiers will keep fighting against each other in the one-and-done-style tournament to reach the top of the women’s college football.
Contests from the first round through the quarter-finals are held within the year 2015 at Miki Sogo Bosai Park while the semi-finals and the final are scheduled in January next year. Female players who have committed their college life to football will show everything they have in the fierce contests on their way to the champions.
A few notable favourites are defending champions Nippon Sport Science University and this year’s first seed out of the Kanto region, Waseda University, who were eliminated early last year. Last year’s runners-up and the third-placed team, Osaka University of Health and Sport Sciences and Kibi International University respectively, also require close attention.
There also could be a dark horse making the first national appearance and all of a sudden coming out of the rest of the pack. No matter how it turns out, it is no wonder that women’s college football will enjoy the longest three weeks in a year. Come and check out the heated contests in winter at the field!
