U-17 Japan Women’s National Team short-listed squad kick off training camp in Shizuoka

On 23 August, the U-17 Japan Women’s National Team short-listed squad started their training camp in Shizuoka. Under rainy weather, the team started the series of training with a meeting. Prior to the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016, coach KUSUNOSE told the players about the meaning of the training, and they listened to him carefully.

Afternoon session started in the slight rain. With enthusiasm, the players worked on passing, control, and possession training, in addition to 5-on-5 plus 1 neutral player drills on a half-length pitch.

Tomorrow, they will have a training match against FC Machida Zelvia Youth.

Players' Comments

TANAKA Momoko (NIPPON TV MENINA)
This is the last camp before the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016, so I will do my best to show my strength on the pitch, while collaborating together with my teammates. The main goal here is to improve as a team. I will try to be proactive even off the pitch to be a good influence on the team. We have only a limited time for this camp, so I will stay focused and not miss any details, while making gradual and steady improvements.

USHIJIMA Riko (Hinomoto Gakuen Senior High School)
This is my last chance to show what I can do before the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016. At the first meeting we had on the first day, our coaching staff told us, “please showcase all you have and earn your spot in the national team participating in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.” As been advised, I will do my best to be called up for the national team and make this training camp a productive one without any regrets.

I will communicate with many people and actively try and challenge the things that our Coach taught us in each of the training sessions and training matches. For the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, I want to prepare myself well captilising on each and every opportunity.
