Day 3 of the U-17 Japan Women’s National Team short-listed squad training camp

25 August 2016

Day 3 of the U-17 Japan Women’s National Team short-listed squad training camp

The U-17 Japan Women’s National Team short-listed squad had their third day of the training camp in Shizuoka and they had sessions both in the morning and the afternoon.

In the sunny weather, they had morning session which included pass & control and possession exercises, side-attack practices, 5-on-5 drills, and seven-a side intra-squad scrimmages.

In the afternoon, the team had their final session before the training match planned tomorrow. The players practiced very actively encouraging each other until the end of the training.

They will have a training match as a wrap-up of this training camp on 25 August.

Players' Comments

KARAHASHI Mayu (ALBIREX NIIGATA LADIES U-18)
I got to understand the difference in passing and running speed and physical strength of the male players in yesterday’s match. In order to maintain my level of play, I tried to put some distance between myself and those players who were stronger when receiving the ball. Tomorrow, we will play against a university team. I will speak up on the pitch especially when we decide who will be the ‘first defender,' putting pressure on the ball. This was one of the issues we found in the previous match on the 23rd.

KURATA Akari (Jumonji Senior High School)
In this morning, we focused on the issues we found in yesterday’s training match. In the afternoon, we checked our combinations both in offence and defence and had a practice game at the end of the training. In the tomorrow’s match, capitalising on what I have learned so far, I will perform my best to improve as a player and finish the camp positively.
