Yokohama F・Marinos Youth vs Kashiwa Reysol U-18
Matchday 10 of the Prince Takamado Trophy U-18 Premier League EAST will take place on 27th and 28th August in several areas. On 28th, there will be the match Yokohama F・Marinos Youth (Kanagawa) vs Kashiwa Reysol U-18 at Nissan Field Kozukue.
Yokohama FM are currently in 7th place. They had a poor start to the season but gradually their results improved and have not lost the 3 previous matches. The team has gained points by beating top teams such as F.C. Tokyo U-18 (Tokyo) on the Matchday 7, and Aomori Yamada High School (Aomori) Matchday 8.
They have conceded goals in the previous 8 matches of 9 matches in the Premier League, but in the JAPAN Club Youth (U-18) Football Championship, which was held during the mid-season break, they went through the 3 matches of group stage with clean sheets. In the Round of 16, they made a decent result even though they lost against Vissel Kobe U-18 (Hyogo) after extended time; they could manage to keep a clean sheet until the 2nd half of additional time.
The team’s Coach MATSUHASHI Rikizo expresses his passion: “In the previous competition of this summer we have done well. Improving our defence makes us very confident, so we want to further improve our offence which is our advantage.”
Kashiwa on the other hand is now in 5th place with 4 wins, 1 draw, and 4 defeats. Their strength lies in keeping possession of the ball.
However, in the last match against Yokohama FM, the team allowed their opponents to take control from the beginning and had to catch up. At the end of the match they could equalise but the players reflected upon the result as a “just lucky one.” Due to this experience, the team’s Coach NAGAI Shunta expresses his expectations of the players by saying: “They should be able to have a good match without any nervousness this time. They were bit stiff in the last match against them because it was the opening match.”
Coach and Players' Comments
MATSUHASHI Rikizo, Coach (Yokohama F・Marinos Youth)
After the first season of the league and the JAPAN Club Youth (U-18) Football Championship, we can see our outcomes and issues to some degree. For the next match, we will pay attention to these things and do our best. Kashiwa is a very good team in terms of keeping the ball possession but if we can hold the ball to take control, I’m sure that the match will be an interesting competition. During the mid-season break we could make good experiences so in the match this weekend we want to show what we have done against the wonderful team Kashiwa.
HARADA Gaku (Yokohama F・Marinos Youth)
We are confident especially in defence from the front line, running well, and having a consistent defence in front of the goal by all of us using our bodies. Against Kashiwa who are good at moving the ball around, what will be important will be how much we can pressure them, and how much we can be patient. As a player, I want to show my large-scaled and dynamic play. Also I want to contribute to scoring goals. I expect to enjoy the second season, checking how much we can compete well against the other teams and players with our characteristics as a team and mine as a player.
NAGAI Shunta, Coach (Kashiwa Reysol U-18)
During the mid-season break, which included the JAPAN Club Youth (U-18) Football Championship, we tried to improve the whole of the team. What we have focused on was to keep our high level of play even in difficult time of a game. I checked every single players’ movement very carefully to find out if there were anybody who were lazy in their positioning or in any other plays. When I found anybody, I just kept demanding them to move more. Now we have had a good sense of tension in our training sessions and I hope they will express what we have improved during this summer in the first match of the latter season.
