U-19 Japan futsal squad wrap up training camp in Aichi

The U-19 Japan Futsal National Team short-listed squad wrapped up their training camp in Aichi Prefecture on 10 November.

How they draw passed and receive them fully utilizing the widths of the pitch, which they have worked on since Day 1, got better and smoother. Their communication have improved by a lot as well. They were trying to deepen their collective plays by talking to each other in every play.

They began with defensive practice, but overall they got to practice both on their offence and defence through the three-day training camp. They had an intra-squad game in the end. Though they only had three days to train, they displayed their development through the game.

For this camp, some players who usually play football were called up, per coach Suzuki's intention, and the team insisted some potential for improvements throughout the camp period.

Coach's and Players' Comments

SUZUKI Ryuji, Coach
For next year's AFC U-20 Futsal Championship, we made our players selections from both football and futsal and, with an intention to fuse them and develop our game. Under the new circumstance and tense, our players that we called up this time worked with high concentration and I think we had great training that continues for our next activities and on.  In our next camp, we would like to improve what we did this time and develop the accuracies. We would like appreciate those who supported us to hold the training camp and others who gave up help from the clubs each player belongs to.

SAKA Keisuke (Espolada Hokkaido)
In the final day, we worked on our defence and then played a game in the end. I felt that we were able to display our concept we've worked on as a team a little better in these three days. In order for this team to be a better team going forward, we are going to have to understand our team concept more and keep developing it with the idea of competing at the global stage in mind. After we go back to our respective teams, we are going to have to practice being aware of the world, and toward next May's AFC U-20 Futsal Championship, we need to be a better group.

NINOMIYA Hidefumi (BARDRAL URAYASU SEGUNDO)
We worked mainly on our defence in the final day. I feel both our offence and defence have raised the qualities. Personally, I occasionally struggled as things didn't go as I wanted, but I would like to improve and develop myself. I've had really great three days. To be selected on the team for next May's AFC U-20 Futsal Championship, I will practice hard.

ISHIDA Kentaro (Tama University/Futsal Club)
We spent a lot of time for practical training and I think we displayed what we've done in the three days in the training camp. While I displayed my strengths, we played more collectively and that was good. It's been just half a year for me to have begun playing futsal, but I've had great circumstances playing at a university, Urayasu and the national team, so I would like to have responsibility and do my best going forward.
