U-17 Japan Women’s National Team holds training session ahead of their match against South Africa at FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Uruguay 2018

On Wednesday 15 November, the U-17 Japan Women’s National Team conducted a training session behind closed doors one day ahead of their second group stage match against U-17 South Africa Women’s National Team at the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Uruguay 2018.

The training was held under a clear sky where the team went through a 4 vs 14 possession drill where each player was seen holding hands together with another player. The team then went through their set-plays ahead of their match against South Africa, followed by group sessions held in each position.

The U-17 Japan Women’s National Team’s second group stage match against the U-17 South Africa Women’s National Team will be held on Friday 16 November at 14:00 local time.

Players' Comments

MF #10 NAKAO Momo (JEF United Ichihara Chiba Ladies U-18)
In our first match against Brazil, we were able to earn a precious point. We created many opportunities as a team, but couldn’t score a goal, so we must heighten our intention to score goals in our next match. South Africa is a team with great momentum and I am sure it will be another tough match for us, but we will continue to fight as a team and earn the full three points. I will give my very best so that I can keep on playing with this team.

MF #15 NISHINO Akane (Tokiwagi Gakuen High School)
Tomorrow we will face South Africa in our second group stage match. We must focus on winning the three points ahead of our third match. Following our first match, we have gotten used to the atmosphere of the World Cup and managed to conduct a productive preparation session both as a team and as an individual. We went through our set-plays today and kept ourselves on the same page. South Africa has also tied their first match, so we are all tied up in points. That means that we cannot afford to lose the match tomorrow, so we will do our best to keep a clean sheet and earn a victory.
