2019 National Chairmen’s Conference of Referees Committee held in 9 locations
17 July 2019
From Saturday 25 May to Sunday 23 June, the JFA Referees Committee held the 2019 edition of the National Chairmen’s Conference of Referees Committee.
After holding last year’s conference in three locations, the JFA has decided to hold this year’s conference in nine different locations, in efforts to provide an environment where the participants can communicate even closer to their neighbouring regions and prefectures. A total of 132 Referees Committee Chairmen from various prefectural and regional football associations attended the conference, showing an increase of 23 participants compared to last year’s total of 109.
The JFA Referees Committee has been planning on making a fundamental reform that will deeply affect how the referees are developed and strengthened, and their goal is to implement the new system by 2021. This year’s national conference has allowed the JFA to share its roadmap to the nation, while giving the local football associations the opportunity to share and review their activities held in each region.
The conference has spread a mutual understanding throughout the nation that in order to achieve “a refereeing that is dependable and enjoyable for everyone,” there must be a system to develop “referees that are independent and attractive.” In order to achieve their goals in the long run, the participants were urged for “changes” when carrying out their yearly events.
