Training course for JFA Primary School P.E. Support Instructors held at Okinawa
26 November 2020
In order to have football taught at more schools, JFA has held training courses to support instructors of primary school physical education (P.E.) classes, since 2014. The course complies with the new educational guidelines set by the government* and promotes contents recommended by JFA.
The course was held on Saturday 21 November at Tomigusuku Civic Gymnasium (Okinawa), where four primary school teachers participated. The number of participants was limited due to the effect of COVID-19, but course was able to take place with the support of the instructors and local primary school students who participated in the practical training session.

Instructor's Comment
KITANO Koichi (JFA Primary School Physical Education Support Instructor)
At the practical training session, the participating teachers and students showed great attitude to take part in the menus we prepared and actively shared their opinions during the course. Although we had only four participants, we were able to conduct a productive course. We hope that the participating teachers can now implement what they have learned today to provide fun and educational football classes at their school.
Host FA Staff's Comment
Mr. MAETSU Fumihiro (Okinawa Football Associtaion)
Although the participants looked nervous at first, they were relaxed and happy following the ice-breaking activity. Each participant showed great enthusiasm, while the participating students also shared many ideas, challenging attitude, and wonderful discipline throughout the course. This course really emphasised the importance for the teachers to guide the students to think on their own, rather than having them just go through the menus.

Mr. TAKARA Hiroya, Teacher (Itoman Minami Elementary School)
It was very easy to understand the emphasis of this course. I was able to get along with the other participants and had a lot of fun. I hope to implement what I have learned at this course to conduct fun and educational P.E. classes at my school.
Mr. MIYAGUNI Satoshi, Teacher (Itoman Minami Elementary School)
Student from my school were also participating in this course, so I was able to have a lot of fun at this course. I was able to learn how to approach the students who have difficulties enjoying P.E. classes, so I hope to incorporate these new findings at my school.
