South America - Japan U-21 Football Exchange Program will take place in Paraguay as part of the international sports contribution program "SPORT FOR TOMORROW”

With the support of the Japan Sport Council, Japan Football Association will conduct a youth football exchange tournament, as part of the international contribution programs “SPORT FOR TOMORROW.” Four U-21 National teams will compete in this tournament that will be held between Wednesday 21 March and Sunday 25 March in Paraguay. The tournament will be held to celebrate the partnership between the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) and JFA. It will also provide an exchange platform for the generations participating in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
During the tournament, directors involved in Paraguayan women's football will participate in a women’s football festival, along with directors from the 10 confederations of CONMEBOL. One director will be selected from each confederation to learn how to conduct such festival. The know-how will be used to hold a women’s football festival multiple times a year, to spread and develop women’s football in each nations.

U-21 Paraguay national team
U-21 Chile national team
U-21 Venezuela national team
U-21 Japan national team
Tournament format:
4 team round-robin format (6 games total/first match 17:00, second match 19:30 kick-off)
21 March: Paraguay vs Venezuela, Chile vs Japan
23 March: Paraguay vs Chile, Venezuela vs Japan
25 March: Chile vs Venezuela, Paraguay vs Japan
Women’s football festival:
Women’s football festival will be held at a separate venue. Participants includes directors involved in women's football from the Paraguayan Football Association, and one director each from the 10 confederations of CONMEBOL.
What is SPORT FOR TOMORROW?
"SPORT FOR TOMORROW" is an international sports contribution program which is propelled by the Japanese government, taking place between 2014 and 2020. It originated from the words of the Prime Minister of Japan, ABE Shinzo, at the IOC meeting when Tokyo was elected as host city of 2020 Summer Olympics. The program’s main purpose is to convey the value of sports and expand the Olympic/Paralympic movement to all generations, across 100+ nations and 10 million+ people.
