Five countries from the Mekong Region to participate in JENESYS 2018 Japan-Mekong U-17 Football Exchange Tournament

As part of the Japan Football Association’s (JFA) commitment to support “JENESYS 2018,” a programme promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, JFA will carry out the JENESYS 2018 Japan-Mekong U-17 Football Exchange Tournament which will take place between Friday 5 and Monday 8 October. The event will serve as an exchange platform for the youth in Japan and the countries of the Mekong Region.
The tournament will take place in Futaba District, Fukushima prefecture, with the U-17 National Teams from five member associations of the Mekong Region participating along with the coaches and staffs from each countries. The U-17 Japan National Team, Shonan Bellmare U-17, and from the host city, U-17 Team of Shoshi High School will participate to form a tournament competed by eight teams. Participating teams from the Mekong Region will stay in Japan until Wednesday 10 October to observe and experience the Japanese culture.

Dates:
Friday 5 - Monday 8 October 2018
Venue:
National Training Center J-Village
Utsukushimori-8 Yamadaoka, Naraha, Futaba District, Fukushima Prefecture
Participating Teams:
The U-17 National Teams from five member associations of the Mekong Region (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam )
U-17 Japan National Team, U-17 Shoshi High School, U-17 Shonan Bellmare
Tournament Format:
・Each team will consist with male players under the age of 17
・8 teams will be divided in 2 groups of 4 teams
・Round robin group stage followed by play-offs to decide rankings
・Each teams may select up to 20 players and 5 officials
Remarks:
Participating teams will stay in Japan until Wednesday 10 October to observe and experience the Japanese culture.

The JENESYS Programme (Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths) is a project advanced by the Japanese government from the standpoint of providing a sound foundation for strong solidarity within Asian and Oceanian countries through large-scale youth exchange. Aimed to promote mutual understanding and friendly relations, JICE oversees the programme by accepting, dispatching, and exchanging leaders of the next generation.
