Super Girl Project training camp underway

“The Super Girl Project” aims to find and nurture future Nadeshiko Japan goalkeepers. Nineteen players, first graders to third graders of junior high school, assembled for the second training camp of 2014 at J-STEP, also called Shimizu National Training Centre, on Friday 14th.
Young girls mainly took physical tests and, after divided into U-13 (1st Grade) and U-15/14 (2nd and 3rd Grade), ended their first-day training with a 4v4 game with goalkeepers. For the goalkeeper training starting on the following day, they received an instruction mostly on offence.
In the night, all the members watched the Kirin Challenge Cup 2014 “Japan vs Honduras” game together on TV. Their coaches gave a writing assignment to them at the meeting requiring them to write their self-introduction, camp objective, and analysis and thoughts that came out from the men’s national team game.
Their training camp will continue until 16 November.

Comments

KAWANISHI Miho, Atletico Femina / Nara
This is my first time to join the Super Girl Project. I was excited but at the same time I was a bit worried if I can adapt to the environment here.
As we had time with others in the practice, meals and meetings, I was very happy to be getting to know each other.

AKAHOSHI Tomomi, Kitakyushu Football Club New Wave Kitakyushu Ladies / Fukuoka
At the physical test, we did side-step, 40-meter run, long kicks, throwing, shuttle run and bounding. Then, I found my strengths were side-step and 40 meter run, and my weakness was bounding.
I’ll keep enhancing the strengths and want improve the weakness from now on.

MATSUI Rio, Toyama Ladies Soccer Club / Toyama
In the Honduras game, I saw lots of connections between the goalkeeper and defenders. Japan was going forward to the goal, neatly connecting passes from the goalkeeper to up front. At the moment an opponent got close, he was making a timely catch. That’s what I need to improve, so I will keep that in my mind and keep up my work.
