National Goalkeepers Camp
With the purpose of coaching and strengthening of each position in players' development, Japan Football Association since 1999, has been carrying out a specialized camp for goalkeepers, the National Goalkeepers Camp, based mainly on JFA GK Project. 20 players from all over Japan, 10 U-15 players and 10 U-18 players recommended by 9 regions GK project and National coaching staff, convene at this camp for a developing /strengthening program.
Purposes of the camp
Development / strengthening of future goalkeepers of Japan National Team and of goalkeepers of under categories' representative teams. Knowing the world standards of world's top class GK and same age GK and becoming aware of one's own standing position in the world, through comparison. We aim to colligate the incentive received in this camp to the players' daily activities and to encourage a further growth.
Contents of the camp
Trainings and meetings with goalkeepers coaches of each under categories' Japan national teams and of National Training Centre. In this camp, in each of the four trainings 4 themes, shot-stopping, break away, cross and participation in offence, are set and we are working on the pursuit of techniques in each menu and on challenges to effective plays in offensive and defensive phases of the matches. In the meetings, we are working on discussions between players, using videos for the analysis of goalkeepers' plays and on presenting and sharing the issues highlighted in the discussion. We are making efforts in order to make players set their own goals and clarify what they should do in order to achieve their goals not only during the camp, but also during their daily training.
