JFA Academy Fukushima conducts nutrition seminar
15 May 2014
The JFA Academy Fukushima held a nutrition seminar for junior high school students on the 10th May. The academy have given nutrition supports to the players of the generation, who make rapid growth in their heights, in providing proper knowledge about it, so they develop their awareness about their physical buildups while they can spend meaningful meal life everyday.
The ninth-generation players (first-year junior high school students) took the seminar for the first time and they learnt about the importance of their meals and the nutrients that are required for them, while the seventh- and eighth-generations players, for whom it was the second time, studied about the predation and how to take it properly.
Comments from the Lecturer
KAMEI Akiko (National Sports Science Center)
At the National Sports Science Center, we have instructed the players at the JFA Academy Fukushima about the nutrition education, with the goals for them to have proper meals both quality-wise and quantity-wise and make healthy and sturdy-built bodies, since last year. We held a nutrition seminar with a theme ''the basic meals for the football players'' for the first-year junior high school students, both boys and girls, this time. Our aim this year was to teach them about the fundamentals about meals and to understand proper nutrition balance when they have practices on a daily basis. At the dinner after the seminar, dietitians of the National Sports Science Center gave the players advices how to properly take their meals. At their dormitories, they are given the meals with good balance all the time. It is important for them to know the basics about meals and and select correct nutritions likewise even when they are out of the dorms for domestic and overseas trips. Also, we had a seminar on ''the predation for the football players'' for the second- and third-grade junior high school students, both boys and girls. Since they had already taken the seminar in the past, the goals for them was to earn practical skills on meal selections. In this seminar, we asked them to know what the predation was and what kind of meanings it had, while we gave them practical drills, asking them on what kind of predation food they would choose at convenience stores by presenting them some of actual items sold at those stores. And also for the second- and third-year students, both boys and girls, like for the first-year students, we give them advices by observing whether they are properly taking their dinners as football players from the dietitians' point of views.
Comment From Players
TAKAGI Kazushi 9th(Ninth-term/first-year junior high school student)
We the ninth-generation students learnt about our meals at the nutrition seminar. We got to know so many different things like it was good to take staple food, main dishes, side dishes, dairy products and fruits in every meal, and it was good to have two packages of nattos. Based on the knowledge we learnt this time, I would like to become able to take a lot of nutritions from now on.
YAMAMOTO Iori(Ninth-term/first-year junior high school student)
We learnt the meals for the athletes. Then I got to know that the volume of the meals that the athletes should take are bigger and they should not have likes and dislikes in it. As we did a check sheet, I got to know that the number of times that I have natto are fewer, so I would like to become able to eat it putting my preferences aside from now on. I want to be aware of the meals that the athletes should take in my daily life.
FUJI Nanako(7th-term/third-year junior high school student)
We learnt about the predation at the seminar this time. I had not really thought about the predation previously, but I got to understand the significance of it this time.
I also felt that it was importance for us to take meals with good balance because we were in our growth periods.
I am going to take meals based on what we learnt this time.
