Super Girls Project training report (15 Nov)
16 November 2014
The Day 2 of the camp had girls divided into two groups, the group of seven U-13 players (junior high school first grade) and that of twelve U-14/15 players (junior high school second and third grade), and began more intensive GK drills. In the morning, the U-13 group worked on how to join attacks and the U-14/15 groups practiced on breakaway saves, which is how to deal with balls coming into the space between the last defender and a goalkeeper. In the afternoon, the groups switched their tasks.
In the meeting held in the evening, they watched videos of goalkeeper plays in actual matches, and got into five groups to analyse and do a presentation.
Coach Kobayashi, who had to leave after the morning session, said to the players before leaving, “Boys goalkeepers have “National GK Camp” once a year. I tell them there are three important things: 1. Big ambition 2: Strong determination 3: Ability to think. I can say the same thing to you, too. Until the last minute of the training tomorrow, and even after you go back to your own club, I want you all to take every single play very seriously and play it with your head.” All the girls are expected to follow his advice in the rest of the training, which has only one more half-day session.

NISHIO Ayaka (Kamimura Gakuen Middle School Women's Football Club/Kagoshima)
U-13 worked on breakaway saves in the morning. I had a tendency to dive into the ball the wrong way, but I learned how to dive to the ball rather by sliding from the side, so that was good. In 1-on-1, I was scared to go to the ball, but after many tries, now I am not scared any more. Now I can catch the ball right, so I will keep working on it until it becomes my favourite play. When catching the ball straightforward, I tried to pay more attention to every catch, and my catching posture got better. So I will keep working on what I can’t do yet, and get better at it.
KOBAYASHI Miho (Jef United Ichihara Chiba Ladies U-15/Chiba)
In the morning the U-14/15 group worked on how to join attacks.
During the passing and control drills, I tried to make sure the situation around me before receiving the ball. I specifically paid more attention to “looking around”. I looked around for the positions of my teammates and those of my opponents, and tried to utilise open space available.
In the 6-on-6 drill we had in the end, I played FP that I don’t normally play. As I played, I always tried to watch out around for my teammates, opponents, the ball and the goal. I could do what I worked on in the passing and controlling drill such as getting ready for receiving passes, looking around and finding open space, and utilising the full pitch. There have been many things that I need to adjust, but I will keep trying hard without being afraid of mistakes.
HAYASHI Momoka (Aozaki Soccer Club Hanako Clover’s /Hiroshima)
The U-13 group did joining attacks in the afternoon session. What I thought important in joining attacks was the quality of passes. By connecting good passes, I think we can move the ball up, have more chances to get a goal and win matches. When you get back the ball, it’s also important to look up and forward. Tomorrow I want to repeat what I tried to do today.
AYAWA Rina (Hagi Soccer Club Ladies/Yamaguchi)
We tried to get better at breakaway saves in the afternoon training. In matches, when a critical moment comes, I always hesitated to play and go out aggressively, for example diving to the ball to stop it. But in this training, I learned when to go out and what kind of position and posture I should take.
I will keep working on it in everyday practice to do it in actual matches.
