Super Girls Project training report (16 Nov)

Super Girls Project training report (16 Nov)

On the last day of the camp, the U-13 group worked on “blocking shots” while the U-15/14’s workout centred on “dealing with cross balls”. They also had a game as the last assignment of the camp and performed well based on what they learned not only on that day but also during the entire three-day camp. In the meeting just before the team was dismissed, chief coach Nishiiri said to the players “I saw a lot of improvements from the last camp in your plays and attitudes. As a football player, you need to get better at using both legs evenly in kicking the ball and controlling the ball, and as a goalkeeper, you need to always catch the ball firmly. I want you all to keep working hard for upcoming practices and matches and also for the next training camp.”
The next training camp is scheduled to be held from 23 to 25 January at J-GREEN Sakai.

Players Comments

MIYA Asuka (FOOTBALL CLUB FAMILIA U-15 / Mie)
The U-13 training on the last day was blocking shots. I was reminded that catching the ball at the first contact, making sure where you are at the moment and having a good first step in saving are very important. These three days, we worked on breakaway saves, joining attacks and blocking shots. In doing these three, you have to watch round very closely what is going on. Keep watching well is also important, I think.

KONOMI Runa (Hirokawa Flowers Football Club / Fukuoka)
The U-15/14 training today had tail-tag as warm-up and then fundamental catching drills, and we worked on dealing with cross balls which is my weakness. When I practice with my team, I don’t work on cross balls very often, so it was a very good experience. When I tried to catch high balls, I tended to bend backward a little too much and didn’t find a good timing to start moving sometimes, but by listening to the coach’s advice and watching other girls, I could correct those. Even after I go back to my team, I will keep it in mind to copy other players’ good plays and follow somebody’s advice right away.

ITO Mina (INAC Kobe Leonessa U-15 / Hyogo)
Through these three days, I came to like playing goalkeeper even more than before. From working on breakaway saves and blocking shots, which are basically getting the ball and stopping shots, to joining attacks by passing the ball to teammates, I learned many important things in keeping my goal. There were more things I learned in this camp and I also found new assignments for myself. This is not the end. I will take these new learnings back to my team and keep working on them so that my coaching staff and teammates will see my improvement. I would like to say thank you to my parents, my head coach and JFA staff members for giving me an opportunity to play football in this great environment.

KAZAMA Yuka (Antelope Shiojiri BelFiore / Nagano)
It was my first time to join the Super Girls Project training. I just started playing goalkeeper recently, but these three days was such a valuable experience to learn many things. The best part was diving catches that I am not very good at. Coaches taught me what I was doing wrong and what I should correct, and I also watch other girls, so I got much better. There were all those different girls from all over Japan and it was a very fun three days.
