U-15 Japan Women's Selection Team begin training camp in Osaka
02 October 2016
The U-15 Japan Women's Selection team began their training camp with a total of 46 players from across the country in Osaka on 1 October. “To make the training camp a special occasion, we expect to make it happen with the entire 46 players. What do you have to make it special and how do you benefit from it? You have got to spend these four days with these in mind,” OBE Yumi, Chief Supervisor for the team, told the players during a meeting at the beginning.
Under a mind weather, the team started the training camp with physical measurements that consisted of five different disciplines, which are practiced at elite activities every year as well. After that, they were divided into four groups, including a goalkeeper 1 group, and had practice for about an hour. After a dinner time, the players took lectures on nutrition and feedbacks from their physical measurements. Then they had meetings by the groups to wrapped up the long day. The training camp continues through 4 October.
Chief Supervisors' Comment
OBE Yumi Chief Supervisor (JFA National Coaching Staff/National Training Centre Coach)
We assembled 46 players from around the country and our training camp for the U-15 Japan Women's Selection team have started. In order to become a part of Nadeshiko Japan and can compete on par against the world on the team, not just with the ambiguous goal to become a part of it, we are going to deepen the players’ understanding of football, working on four different themes, which are defence, possession, how to win battles in the box and how to battle after crosses, and try to elevate their individual quality. Also, to develop their performance on the pitch, we had lectures on core training and nutrition. We expect them to be players who can voluntarily manage their environments for football and daily lives.
Assistant Coach and Players' Comments
KANO Michihisa Assistant Coach (JFA National Training Centre Coach/SAGAWA SHIGA FC)
We kicked off our four-day U-15 women’s training camp in Osaka today. We had chief Obe to talk about the meaning of this training camp, what they have to accumulate from their activities at the National Training Centre and Elite Programmes, and what they have to do here as they are closer generation to the top-flight national team. And we promised that they players would watch, feel and judge things on their own, while each player is expected to take actions, and others actively respond to their teammate trying to get involved. We told ourselves to make this training camp to create the base and got out to the pitch.
After the physical measurements, we did passing and controlling, sticking to details, and then played games to deepen their communication, and we did see some active plays. At night, we reviewed the players’ physical measurements and had a lecture on nutrition, plus Nadeshiko Japan coach TAKAKURA gave them encouraging words. To make this valuable four days, we are going to work hard with the players.
MORIMOTO Shiori (FC RIFORMA)
We did physical training and measurements, passing and supporting, square passing, and a 7-on-7 game in the end today. Unless you do the physical training in right postures, it doesn’t mean anything, so I was aware of the right postures and want to keep doing it going forward. And I want to make my body to not lose at competitions for the ball and to not get shaken with the core of my body when I make turns and things. When we used the ball for training and a mini game, we played with different players, and I was inspired a lot. In the remaining three days, I would like to show the plays I am good at, while I would also like to absorb good plays of others.
OMICHI Kana (NGU NAGOYA FC LADIES YOUTH)
What I learned most today was the importance of nutrition We got the feedbacks of our inquiries that we did previously, and I got to know what I was lacking of and what I need to eat. We took a lecture from a nutritionist and understood it would be up to us how we would change our eating customs, and it made me think that I’d try to do my best to develop myself. When I go home, I will talk to my mother and change my eating habit. In today’s training, I felt that I needed to improve the quality of every single play I do. I would like to be aware of the quality of my plays in the remaining three days. The first day ended quickly, so I would like to show what I can do both on and off the pitch in the remaining three days, and hopefully I can say it was valuable four days in the end.
INO Rion (OKAYAMA YUNOGO BELLE U‐15・U‐18)
The toughest physical training today was the Yo-Yo test. I don’t have much stamina, so I wasn’t able to run a lot. But in the 7-on-7 game we did after that, I think that I was able to show some gutsy players and made accurate passes, which are things I’m good at, in the short time. I would like to continue to show my strengths, especially my gutsy plays, playing as hard as I can and absorb things from other players, making up the lack of my stamina. I want to improve what I am short of and improve what I’m good at. We will play games on the final day, so I would like to take communication with players I’ll play with and hope to win them all.
