Goalkeeper Coach's Comment

IJIMA Masaki (JFA National Training Centre Coach/Tokai University Kumamoto FC)
The camp went into the third day, and the communication among the team had improved. In the morning we practised our offence. By having more communication off the pitch, coaching each other on the pitch has got more active as well. The workout turned out to show more collectivity both in offence and defence. In the afternoon, we had a match against Korea Republic. We often found good effects of the workouts of yesterday and today on both defence and offence. All of our players showed their strong will to win and played together. I think this experience can trigger their development for their future.

Players' Comments

NISHIMURA Kotone (Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies Junior Youth)
The third day of this Korea Republic trip had a training on ball possession in the morning. We paid attention to advancing forward as we regain possession of the ball. We also made sure that we would have better control of every single ball when receiving it and improve the accurcay of every single pass. In the match in the afternoon, all of us were able to execute putting pressure from the front line and defend aggressively. These are the things we worked on in the training. As the result, we won the match 2-0. Now that all twenty of us have got used to communicating with each other and the mood in the team has got better, we have to work to make this team even better by giving our thoughts to questions like “what can we do now” and “how do we prepare ourselves”.  We will be united and take even off-the-pitch activities more seriously.

ARIYOSHI Aimi (Fukuoka Jo Gakuin Junior High School)
It was the first match against Korea Republic. The goal of our team was to hold the opponents scoreless. Right after the match started, we were on the receiving end of their fierce attack, but somehow we managed to defend our goal. Then we started getting our pace little by little, and we were able to break down their defence on the sides and feed cross balls to score. It was also good that I could score one. I felt the communication among us was good, too. But speaking of the possession and defence that we worked on in the training, we could have done it more flexibly. So that’s a lesson that we want to pay attention to in the next Korea Republic match and also in practices. And in order for us to win again, I want to do my best, trying to show my strength of vertical rushing.

OIKAWA Sae (JFA Academy Fukushima)
Today we played against Korea Republic. The result was our 2-0 win, but we found many things to correct. For example, at the beginning, we were outplayed by the opponents having momentum, and they were also stronger and more capable of keeping the ball in one-on-one situations. Furthermore, they were faster than us also. But once we started communicating, we were able to outnumber them when we couldn’t beat them one-on-one, and we also could deal with balls coming to the space behind us by focusing on ‘challenging and covering’. I learned from this match that the communication and teamwork are so important. I want to remember that in future matches, too.

MADOIWA Hina (Maruoka Ruck Ladies)
Today I played against Korea Republic for the first time. We won it 2-0, but we found many things that we need to correct. I got onto the pitch in the second half. Korean players were very physical and we often lost the battles for the ball. But we took advantage of our techniques we worked on in the training and gradually started to increase the stretches where we play in their end. I found some space between their defenders. So I rushed in there and shot that ball that came to me as strongly as I could. That shot went into goal. I was happy that I scored the goal, but at the same time it meant a lot to me because that goal was possible because of all of our teammates’ effort. In the second match against Korea Republic on Thursday 17, we will play collective defence to steal the balls, attack altogether for goals, and win it as a united team.
