The Argentine Republic decided to donate the Argentine Republic Cup to the JFA U-12 Japan Football Championship. H.E. Mr. Alan Beraud, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Argentine Republic to Japan, visited the JFA House on Tuesday 13 November 2018 and handed the Argentine Republic Cup to JFA President TASHIMA Kohzo.

The Cup was donated as part of commemorating the 120th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Argentine Republic and Japan, and will be awarded to the winning team of the JFA U-12 Japan Football Championship from this year onwards.

The Argentine Republic Cup has been awarded to the winner of All Japan High School Tournament since 1993, and this will be the second cup to be awarded by the Argentine Republic for football tournaments in Japan.

This year 2018, the Argentine Republic and Japan are celebrating the 120th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. We donated the Argentine Republic Cup to All Japan High School Tournament 25 years ago, in the year 1993. We would like to support the younger generations and we want them to be interested in Argentina, which is located the other side of the earth. So we have donated the Argentine Republic Cup to the JFA U-12 Japan Football Championship. We would like to continue promoting friendship relations with Japan through sports and football.

It is a pleasure and honour to receive a donation in the form of the Argentine Republic Cup for the JFA U-12 Japan Football Championship from the Argentine Republic on such a memorable year. The Argentine Republic is one of the leading powerhouses in the world of football and has a long history of producing many super players. Like Lionel Messi and Gonzalo Higuain, the country is a host to many players that children look up to, so I am certain that the players who will be participating in this tournament will show great enthusiasm and energy with the aim of clinching the Argentine Republic Cup. I wish that the tournament will be a fair and wonderful tournament that will live up to the prestigious name of the Argentine Republic Cup.
