Nagoya and Iwata go head-to-head in search for their third consecutive win in the WEST! - Prince Takamado Trophy JFA U-18 Football Premier League 2022
15 April 2022
The third sec. of the Prince Takamado Trophy JFA U-18 Football Premier League 2022 is scheduled to take place on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 April.
EAST
Three teams started off the season with back-to-back wins in the EAST, as Yokohama F.Marinos Youth (Kanagawa), Aomori Yamada High School (Aomori), and Kawasaki Frontale U-18 (Kanagawa) enter the third sec. seeking for their third win.
Following their 7-0 victory over Kiryu Daiichi High School (Gunma), Yokohama FM will face Ryutsu Keizai University Kashiwa High School (Chiba) at home. UCHINO Kotaro (#9), who registered a hat-trick last week, will lead the offence against the Kashiwa side, who will be playing their second match of the season.
The defending EAST champions Aomori Yamada will be heading over to Saitama to face Omiya Ardija U18 (Saitama). Aomori Yamada have laboured through the first two matches against Funabashi Municipal High School (Chiba) and FC Tokyo U-18 (Tokyo) to earn consecutive victories. KOBAYASHI Koto (#15) has made his presence felt in offence, as the defender has marked a goal in both matches. Omiya on the other hand, has lost both of their matches by a goal. If they can maintain their focus in the crucial moments of the match, it is only a matter of time for them to earn their first win of the season.
Kawasaki F. got off to a great start in their first ever season in the Premier League. However, both of their matches were closely contested, as the team won their matches by a score of 1-0 and 2-1. This week, they will play an away match against JFA Academy Fukushima U-18 (Shizuoka), who have struggled defensively in the first two matches, as they conceded a total of six goals while losing both matches. It will be interesting to see if Kawasaki F. can keep their momentum going, or if the Academy side can find their rhythm to earn their first win at home.
After earning their first win in the Premiere League last week, Maebashi Ikuei High School (Gunma) will square off against FC Tokyo, while Funabashi Municipal will seek to earn their first win when they welcome Yokohama FC Youth (Kanagawa) to their home. The match between Kashiwa Reysol U-18 (Chiba) and Kiryu Daiichi has been postponed.
WEST
In the WEST, Nagoya Grampus U-18 (Aichi) and Jubilo Iwata U-18 (Shizuoka) will go head-to-head in search for their third consecutive victory. Nagoya has won their first two matches against Cerezo Osaka U-18 (Osaka) and Higashi Fukuoka High School (Fukuoka) by scoring the opening goal in the early minutes to take the initiative of the match. Iwata, on the other hand, stands out for their aggressiveness in the final stages of the match, scoring two goals in the final 30 minutes in both of their matches played thus far. Iwata’s second year player, GOTO Keisuke (#17), has shown his versatility by scoring in both matches while playing as a defensive midfielder and as a forward, and he will be a player to keep an eye on this week.
Shizuoka Gakuen High School (Shizuoka) are another team who started off the season with back-to-back victories. The Shizuoka side has kept clean sheets in both matches, but their form will be put to the test this week when they take on the WEST champions, Sanfrecce Hiroshima FC Youth (Hiroshima).
After the postponement of the “Osaka derby” against Gamba Osaka Youth (Osaka) last week, Cerezo Osaka U-18 will now face Vissel Kobe U-18 (Hyogo) in the “Hanshin derby.” While Cerezo will be playing their second match of the season following their 1-2 loss to Nagoya in the opening week, Kobe will enter their third match after winning against Gamba Osaka 4-0 and losing to Ozu High School (Kumamoto) 1-2.
Elsewhere, two of the Kyushu sides, Sagan Tosu U-18 (Saga) and Ozu, will clash in Saga, while Shimizu S-Pulse Youth (Shizuoka) will welcome Riseisha High School (Osaka) to their home field in Nihondaira. The match between G Osaka and Higashi Fukuoka has been postponed.
