Participating teams

Participating teams shall be 48 teams to be selected from the following regions:
1) One team from each of 47 prefectures
2) One team from the prefecture which had the most participating teams in its last qualifiers. (Hokkaido)

Tournament System

• 1) [First Round]
  The 48 teams, divided into 12 four-team groups, play the round-robin contest, and the top team of each group and four best second-placed teams based on their results will advance to the final tournament.
  [Final Tournament]
  The top 16 teams will play the knock-out stage. (No third-placed match will be held)
• 2) Standings in the first round will be determined by points earned. A team will receive three points for a win, one for a draw and zero for a loss. If the teams equal on points, the following criteria will be applied to determine the standings : a) the head-to-head result between the two teams in question, b) the superior goal difference between the two teams, c) higher number of goals scored between the two teams, d) the superior goal difference in their group, e) higher number of goals scored in their group and f) fewer caution or expulsion points.
• 3) To determine four second-placed teams to advance to the final tournament, the following criteria will be applied: a) total points, b) goal difference, c) total goals scored, and d) drawing of lots.

Awards

• 1) The champions, runners-up and third-placed teams will be awarded .
• 2) For the encouragement and development of fair play spirit, the Fair Play Award, consisting of a trophy and supplementary prize, will be awarded to the selected team in accordance with the JFA’s selection standard. The Fair Play Award will be given per team and selected from the final-four teams in the tournament.
• 3) “Best Player Award” and “ Nadeshiko Award” will be given to the most outstanding player and the most outstanding female player respectively.
