3rd day in Hungary: Beach Soccer National Team Europe tour
31 July 2014
The players held morning and afternoon training sessions again on the third day in Hungary.
In the morning, the players did circuit training in order to get their heart rate up. They did some zigzag dribbling, ran over cones, did slalom training among the markers and ran in straight lines. The more they ran, the more the pitch was dug up, and the conditions deteriorated. However, the players managed their training tasks one by one. You can tell that they have undoubtedly got themselves in better shape, compared to the first day when they flew to Hungary just after three matches in Portugal.
The goalkeepers had a separate session from the outfield players. As the size of the pitch for beach soccer is small, shots can come from anywhere. On top of that, the surface of the pitch keeps changing due to the nature of the sand. So the goalkeeper needs to see the trajectory of the ball until the last moment before he moves. Under the instruction of the goalkeeping coach, Nakagawa, the keepers continued to receive shots repeatedly, so that they could judge and play properly even when they were exhausted.
There were smiles all round and the players were refreshed, getting rid of the sand, after the training session.
In the afternoon, when the players started training, there were dark clouds in the sky in the distance. They had a practice game after a warm-up and a ball-controlling session. The coach Marcelo gave detailed instructions on the right positioning, the distance between the players and combinations in order to carry out certain tactics.
There were some lightning strikes over the dark clouds. The training has been suspended, because some local staff told them it would become a very heavy thunderstorm. Soon after they stopped their straining session just in time, it started to rain heavily with lightning, just as they were told.

MATSUO Naoya(Pracia YAMAGUCHI)
We held a physical-focused training session in the morning. It was tougher than the one yesterday, but it was very effective for each position in the actual match. When the training is hard, I think the younger players should be really vocal. So do I. In the afternoon, we played a practice match in a 3-1 formation to check our positions. I think we kept communicating with each other well during the game. I know what I want to try in the friendly the day after tomorrow. I’ll continue imaging the tactics when I rest, and get myself ready for the match.

I came to Hungary for the first time, and I love it. The town and the lake are very beautiful. The food at the hotel is very good, which makes it difficult to control body weight, though. With two days to go before the friendly, I’m ready and just can’t wait. We will take our victory against Hungary in Portugal into this match, and I’m confident of scoring a winning goal. We are surrounded by a great environment, in which we can focus on the beach soccer. We are grateful and want to show our appreciation by winning the match.
