Beach Soccer Japan National Team squad training camp in Okinawa - fourth day report (21 Oct)

The players of the Beach Soccer Japan National Team squad participated in the fourth and last day of their four-day training camp. They had a practice match against a squad consisting of SOL MAR PRAIA and FC URUMA, and won the game 6-0.
Each player faced the match switched on and brought to the game what they had learned during the training camp, including in defence, attack and some set pieces.

Comments

Marcelo MENDES, Head Coach
We focused on understanding the team’s strategies and practicing more set pieces during this training camp. I think all the players, from the young ones to the experienced ones, understood my requests very well and showed what they’ve learned in the practice match on the last day. I was especially satisfied with the fact we didn’t concede a goal by using a compact defence, not to mention scoring six goals, including ones through the set pieces we’ve practiced.
I think we have had a good preparation for the coming Intercontinental Cup and the Asian Beach Games. The players seem to be in very good condition and I hope we will play well.

SUGITA Tetsuji (SHONAN SPREAD1545)
I was worried that I might be a bit behind in understanding the tactics, as I joined the national team’s training camp for the first time since May. However, the coach instructed me in detail and I gradually understood everything. I think I showed what I have learned in the game on the last day.
Although it’s difficult to improve an individual player’s skill dramatically in a short time, we can improve our level as a team. So I’d like to work hard one step at a time for the next level. Lastly, I’m really grateful for the staff and my teammates, who have created this environment.

AKAGUMA Takuya (Dorsole KITAKYUSHU)
As I learned new plays, such as some more set pieces, I’d like to have a firm understanding of them in order to to use them in the matches.
The atmosphere of the team got even better and I think the team is getting ready for the coming championship next month. I’d like to continue training harder once I’m back in my club team, even though it’ll be only for a short time.

OBA Takaaki (Dorsole KITAKYUSHU)
In the practice match, we could score through the set piece we’ve practiced during the training camp. So I’d like to continue to improve our quality in the next championship.
In terms of the defence, every teammate understood the coach’s requests and conceded no goals, which gave us some confidence. I’d like to play hard and get a good result in Dubai (the host country of the Intercontinental Cup).
