U-17 Japan Women's National Team arrive in Jordan, the site for FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup

The U-17 Japan Women's National Team held a practice on the final day of their ongoing training camp on 23 September. Some supporters put up a banner with inspiring messages for the team. Players who had had their club obligations joined the team at the Narita airport at night. After a thirteen hour flight, they landed at the site for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2016 Jordan.

The team arrived in Jordan at 11:00 on the 23rd and resumed their training from 16:00. They warmed up, jogging and playing mini-games on the first day of the camp there, and wrapped up in high spirits toward the tournament.

Players' Comments

GK #1  TANAKA Momoko (NIPPON TV MENINA)
We warmed up to get used to the climate of Jordan while goalkeepers checked on the fundamentals this morning. In the afternoon, we worked on breakaways and one-on-ones. We gradually got used to the weather in Jordan. Ahead of our first game against Ghana, we are going to do what we are supposed to do in our daily practices and improve both as a team and as an individual.

DF #6  KANEKATSU Rio (Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies Youth)
In the morning, we checked on our condition. We came down here after a long-hour flight and had some fatigue left, but I was able to move gradually. In the afternoon practice, we worked on possession and reviewed our defensive tactics. We have gotten used to the environment in Jordan, so we want to focus and turn on the game mode. Ghana, our first opponents in the tournament, are the team we have never taken on, and we don’t know how they are going to come against us. But no matter who we play, we are just going to play our game and bring the championship trophy back to Japan. In order for that to happen, we need to give our best and keep working hard.
