Japan Women’s Futsal squad kick off their training camp in Kanagawa

Under the new coach ITO Masanori who was appointed in March, the Japan Women’s Futsal National Team began their training camp in Hakone, Kanagawa from Wednesday 7 December. Since the World Cup of women’s futsal was cancelled, they decided to hold a camp on the date in which the tournament was originally scheduled. A total of 18 members, including few newcomers and experienced players, were called up. They are expected to work together and improve the overall level of the team.

On the first day of the camp, they had shooting exercises and then one-on-one drills for approximately two hours in the afternoon. In the evening, they had two practice matches, one against the second team of SHONAN BELLMARE and the other against the U-15 squad of P.S.T.C.LONDRINA to check on their current tasks to work on during this camp.

In this three-day camp, both the coaching staff and players are looking to improve the team ahead of the international competition in Asia the following year.

Players' Comments

HOTTA Eriko (SAICOLO)
It is regretful that we were denied the opportunity to play against the foreign teams in the World Cup. However, I am grateful to all the people who supported us and gave us the opportunity to participate in a wonderful training camp. There are few newcomers, but we are getting along well. In the training matches today, we were able to play while appreciating each other’s strengths. In the remaining two days of the camp, I will work harder to make this a productive one.

SEKINADA Minako (arco-iris KOBE)
I paid attention to scoring from mid-range shots and counter-attacks during training in offence today. On the same day of assembling the team, we had training matches whereby we were able to make good communication with one another. We were also focused on winning the games. I want to contribute to the team even more by absorbing many things during this camp,

KITAGAWA Kana (Fukui Maruoka Ruck)
It's been a while since our last camp, and I am simply glad that I was called up again. This only lasts for three days, and I need to give my best and improve the team at the same time. Training matches were against men’s team with pace and skills, but we were able to coach each other on the court and help each other in both defence and offence. I will do my best in the remaining two days.

Schedule

Wed. 7 December PM Training
Thu. 8 December AM/PM Training
Fri. 9 December AM Training

*The schedule is subject to change due to the team condition, the weather, etc.
