Japan U-19 training camp for AFC U-19 Championship - report (1 October)

The training session of the 3rd day of the training camp started at 3:30 pm. In a photo session which was held prior to the session, the players were dressed in the official Japanese kit for the AFC U-19 Championship. In the photo session, a sense of tension due to the upcoming important matches was seen from the players. In the afternoon training session, the players had 3 sets of 11 on 11 mini games with a restriction of ball touch in a narrower pitch to improve their combination skills.

At night, the players had a lecture from FIFA Referee, Yuichi NISHIMURA.
Mr. Nishimura had given his lecture twice previously before AFC U-19 Championship Qualifier which was held last year and a training camp held last December. This time he visited not only for another lecture but also for encouraging them before the important matches.
At the beginning of his lecture, he mentioned intensive fouls and tackles that are expected to come from opponents. He also talked about some of referee’s work, the relationship between referees and players, winner’s mentalities, and his experiences from the FIFA World Cup matches which were held in Brazil last June.

The players are expected to have a good time to get ready mentally for the upcoming Championship by his encouraging lecture with some videos of world-class plays. Tomorrow, the players will have a training match with Honda Lock S.C., of Japan Football League.

Comments

MATSUMOTO Masaya (Oita Trinita)
Today, we focused on the issues we found from the training match held yesterday. I think it was good to improve mainly our offense combination such as sense of distance, ball-receiving timing, and passing timing. At night we had a good chance to know about the FIFA World Cup and relationship between referees and players by Mr. Nishimura, and I got to learn that it is important for me to play with all of my energy with a sense of respect not only to my opponents but also to referees.

NAKATANI Shinnosuke (Kashiwa Reysol)
I have been able to train in such a wonderful environment. We want to win the training match against Honda Lock S.C. tomorrow. I want to develop the communication amongst my teammates to enable us to win the Championship.

IDEGUCHI Yosuke (Gamba Osaka)
I want to show my strengths in the training match against Honda Lock S.C. tomorrow. For the AFC U-19 Championship, I want to work hard everyday not only for improving my individual play but also for maximising our team play.
