Japan to host a tournament with five countries of the Mekong region as a part of “Japan-Mekong U-15 football exchange programme”

The Japan Football Association (JFA) will co-host the “Japan-Mekong U-15 football exchange programme” with the Japan Foundation Asia Center from 1 July for three days. The U-15 Japan National Team will meet the national teams from five countries of the Mekong region, who were invited to this football exchange programme prior to the 7th Mekong-Japan Summit held on Saturday 4 July.

Date:
Wed. 1 July to Fri. 3 July 2015

Location:
J-GREEN SAKAI (145 Yawata-machi, Chikko, Sakai-ku, Sakai, Osaka)

Participants:
U-15 National Teams from five countries of Mekong region (Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Laos), U-15 Japan National Team, Vissel Kobe U-15 and Sanfrecce Hiroshima FC Junior Youth

Tournament System:
- The eight participating teams will be divided into two groups to play a league competition, followed by a consolation final
- 17 players and 5 staff in each team

Note:
The Japan Foundation Asia Center has arranged for each participating team, invited to Japan, to stay in Japan until 5 July after the football tournament. The young players will experience some Japanese culture, such as Japanese calligraphy in Tokyo, to deepen their understanding and to get to know the culture.
