F.C. Tokyo to challenge leading team Kashiwa in Prince Takamado Trophy U-18 Premier League EAST
17 July 2015
The matchday 10 of the Prince Takamado Trophy U-18 Premier League EAST will be held on Saturday 18 July and Sunday 19 July. It will be the second half of the season and the teams will play each other for the second time.
Aomori Yamada High School (Aomori), who played better in the second round with two victories and one draw, will play against Ryutsukeizaidai Kashiwa (Chiba). They draw the match with Kashima Antlers Youth (Ibaraki) in the matchday 8 and turned the game around against F.C. Tokyo U-18 (Tokyo) in the previous matchday, which brought them some confidence.
Ryutsukeizaidai, on the other hand, lost four consecutive games, failing to show their strength. They could not take more than 10 shots in the last three matches. Ryutsukeizaidai coach HONDA Yuichiro commented: “the stamina of the players dropped towards the end of the game.” They need to show their strong spirit against the coming opponent, who are also members of the all Japan High School Athletic Federation.
Omiya Ardija Youth (Saitama) will meet Kashiwa Reysol U-18 (Chiba) at home. Omiya remain unbeaten. They lost four goals out of six through set pieces, which showed their solidity in both attack and defence. Omiya Ardija Youth coach ITO Akira noted: “the players are reliable. They have got better at playing to win through each game.” The team will play against Kashiwa, who turned the game dramatically around in the previous Sec., building up positive momentum for them. Omiya’s players enthusiastically commented: “we’d like to win playing our style aggressively.”
The match between Shimizu S-Pulse Youth (Shizuoka) and JFA Academy Fukushima (Shizuoka) feature two teams that know each other very well. As JFA Academy coach MANAKA Mikio noted about the team: “we started to show what we’ve been practicing”, the team, which mainly consists of second graders, won consecutive games in the second round, gradually building self-belief. They aim to earn three points by winning against Shimizu, to whom they lost in their opening match.
Consadole Sapporo U-18 (Hokkaido) will meet Ichiritsu Funabashi High School (Chiba). In the previous matchday, Sapporo lost to Kashiwa, who turned the game around in the last five minutes. Ichiritsu Funabashi High School also lost two of the last three matches, losing their stability in the first round, in which they stayed unbeaten. Sapporo kept a clean sheet in the two matches they won. Ichiritsu Funabashi won the first five games from the beginning, by attacking and defending well. Both teams need to review how to play while the opponent keeps possession and play better before the break.

Kashima Antlers Youth vs. F.C. Tokyo U-18
The leading team Kashima will meet F.C. Tokyo. Kashima, who played for the top spot against Ichiritsu Funabashi High School (in second place as of the matchday 9) in the previous Sec. and only let the opponent take four shots, won the game to earn three points. Although they conceded a goal in the injury time of the second time, they managed to maintain the top spot in the league. F.C. Tokyo coach SATO Kazuki, who lost to Kashima in the opening match, commented about the team currently in the lead: “they are just so solid in defence. If they score a goal, they can defend strongly until the final whistle and win the game.” As F.C. Tokyo lost at the end to Aomori Yamada High School in the previous matchday, they cannot lose any more if they are to stay among the top teams. They will focus on defence, waiting for goal-scoring opportunities to win games.
