U-19 Japan Women's National Team’s final preparation before departure

14 August 2015

U-19 Japan Women's National Team’s final preparation before departure

U-19 Japan Women's National Team attended the fourth day of their training camp in Wakayama.

In the morning, they held a free training session so that they could recover from the practice match the day before. The players did keepie-uppies in pairs while holding on to each other, followed by competing in the number of kick-ups they could do in groups of four. They was a relaxing and refreshing atmosphere around during the session.

In the afternoon, they focused on building up attacks. The sun went behind the clouds, and it was cooler than the day before. The players started with passing and controlling, and moved onto a 7-on-7 mini game with two free players to finish the practice session.

The team will hold the last training session in Japan on the morning of 14 August, before leaving for Nanjing, China, in which the AFC U-19 Women's Championship will be held.

Players' Comments

DF 16   HAZA Hisui (Nippon Sport Science University)
Although I was a little confused with the difference in football between my club team and the national team, I understood and improved line controlling and positioning, which I was advised to do, compared to the early time in the camp.

Personally, I aim to keep a clean sheet as a centre back in the championship. As a team, all of us, including the players on the pitch as well as the ones on the bench, play together to earn a place at the World Cup.

DF 3   KITAGAWA Hikaru (JFA Academy Fukushima)
What I achieved in the Wakayama camp was to overlap aggressively and to assist. I must improve my positioning in detail in defence. I’d like to contribute in attack in the championship to score goals.

FW 9   KOBAYASHI Rikako (Tokiwagi Gakuen High School)
My issue is controlling when I receive the ball and the accuracy of passing. I’d like to win this championship, as we lost our opportunity to book a place at the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in the previous one.
