All India Football Federation holds AFC Pro Diploma Course in Japan
12 July 2023
The AFC Pro Diploma Course organised by All India Football Federation (AIFF) was held in Kanto for 11 days from Friday, 23 June to Monday, 3 July.
The AFC Pro Diploma Course is a course to obtain the highest level of coaching licence issued by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), and the course consists of four modules. Club attachment was the theme emphasised in this module held in Japan. With the support of FC Tokyo and Kashiwa Reysol, the participants were given the opportunity to observe and analyse the training sessions and matches of the top team and youth teams of each club. Through the discussion sessions held with the club staff, including the head coach and general manager, the participants learned how each team prepares for every match, how coaches should behave, and what it means to be a professional club.
Through lectures held at Prince Takamado Memorial JFA YUME Field, the participants also deepened their knowledge in a variety of subjects, including the vision of Japanese football, youth development, the Physical Fitness Project, sports psychology, set-piece analysis, and data analysis.
Instructor’s Comment

On behalf of All India Football Federation, I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for taking care of us in Tokyo - and all the planning before we arrived. We really enjoyed our exposure trip to Tokyo because it was so well planned. The participant got inspired and are coming home with new input and ideas. The JFA lectures were very inspiring even though sometimes it was a challenge with the translation. The club visits were very productive, especially the three days with FC Tokyo. To observe and analyse a number of J-league as well as U-18 games was also very inspiring and interesting. I wish JFA all the best in the future.

I would like to extend my deep gratitude to everyone at the JFA and their associated staff, and to the Clubs we visited during our stay in Japan. The quality and attention to detail of the classroom sessions ensured we gained the necessary knowledge that we came to expect. A special thanks to those coordinating with the J-league clubs like Kashiwa Reysol & FC Tokyo and to all the staff at those 2 Clubs for extending such warm hospitality. Giving us access to the 1st team and the youth teams training and interactions with the coaches. Personally, the trip was such a wonderful experience that I would love to return to Japan very soon and learn more about the football culture, especially on the Women's side of the game too. Arigatou gozaimashita.

As a Coach from India, I was very much impressed to see the facilities and the structure of football development in Japan by JFA. Indeed, JFA has some very experienced and talented experts in the field of Coaching, Scouting, Talent ID, Football Analysis, Physical Fitness, Coach Education and many more areas. I would like to thank all the JFA experts for taking out time and sharing their experience through a theory session for the coaches of India who came for the Study Tour for the AFC Pro Diploma. The level of J-League is among the best in Asia. But all the Junior teams from U10 to U18 are also doing well and are following a long-term plan for Japan 2050. As a part of the AFC Pro Diploma group from India, personally, I feel that these 7 – 8 days of learning, experiencing, interacting, and working together with experts from JFA will help me become a better coach and help my MA in the structural development of football in India. Best wishes to everyone at JFA.
