Match Report

On the 4th day of the Spain trip, Japan had the first of three training matches against Spanish League clubs. The opponent is Segovia Futsal in the 2nd Division, a young team with many teenage players.

Japan had Kawahara, Morioka, Takita, Nibuya and Yoshikawa on the starting lineup.
The game saw an early 2-0 lead by Japan after Uchimura's goal in the 8th minute and Osodo's goal from Uchimura's assist in the 9th minute.
But in the 12th minute Segovia's shot got deflected after hitting a Japanese player and went in for an unfortunate lost goal for Japan. The first half finished with Japan's 2-1 lead.

In the 2nd half, after having the game tied in the 23rd minute, Japan took the lead again with Nibuya's skilful finish in the 33rd minute. Then Segovia started employing powerplay in the 36th minute. Japan, however, nicely adjusted to it and Osodo laid a rebound in for his 2nd goal of the day, which gave Japan 4-2 lead.

Although Japan gave up a penalty kick only one minute left in the regulation and had the game narrowed to 4-3, they kept the lead and finished the first match of the Spain trip with a win.

Coach & Players'comments

Head Coach:Miguel Rodrigo
We all know for sure after our past Spain trips that it is very difficult to win against Spanish clubs regardless of the divisions. We are not fully satisfied with our offense, but we had some good plays. And above all that, our defence worked very well. So I take this game very positively. We haven't had a long period of preparation yet, and the players' conditioning level is not perfect yet, so it is still not fair to ask everything from them both in offense and defence. With every game in this trip, we keep building up on our assignments.

Nibuya Kazuhiro(Vasagey Oita)

For me this is my 5th time to be in Spain. Every time I got used little by little to the futsal and life in this country. Games started today, and we won against Segovia 4-3. But we were amazed with how Spanish players control the ball and how fast they are. We can't experience it in Japan. I personally have many assignments to work on. Until the last trip, our focus was on the details in games rather than win-loss results, but this time I want to do my best to win all games and have fun doing it.

Nishitani Ryosuke(Daucao Kobe)

After coming here we kept improving through training for three days, and we had the first game of this trip against Segovia. We won it 4-3, but we still need to improve our communication to play together and share what each of us wants to do at a higher level. In our defence, I felt we did well in transitions between offense and defence, one-on-one defence, defence against powerplay even after three days of training. So we keep doing them and keep working in the games and practices to minimise our lost goals, stay consistent both in our offense and defence and keep winning.

Uchimura Shunta(Shonan Bellmare)

It was rewarding for us that we won this tough game. But I think our offense still needs improvement. Personally it was good for me to get the first goal of the game, but I haven't been able to show all of my skills. So I will try again in tomorrow's game. It was the first game against a Spanish team and I could experience their high quality skills such as how they keep the ball around, their body control and how they run the pitch. I will keep learning those things from them as much as possible and want to use them for myself.

Kawahara Hisamitsu(Nagoya Oceans)

The game left us some assignments, but I am glad that this team won the game after 5 team practices. I was named captain for the first time of my life and wore the band. I have big arms, so it felt like training with pressure on, but I played this game with feeling something different. We will have more games coming up tomorrow, but we will keep playing as one team.
