Mr. JO Kazunori (JFA Coach)
First of all, I would like to thank all the people who has supported us to make this course possible during this Covid-19 pandemic.

We finished the second module in June and the short-course of the third module started on 30 August after a two month break. With the state of emergency being announced, the course moved its venue to J-Village and the course was centred around the practical training sessions.

At this course, we first analysed a match played by college players, and constructed our training plans based on the analysis. We then divided ourselves into groups of four, where we each took on a role of the head coach, assistant coach, GK coach, and physical coach to conduct the training sessions. We worked on each task as a group, held discussions to improve the training menu, and made adjustments ahead of the next match. The course emphasised on the coaching circulation, which we work on in a daily basis.

When constructing the training plans, we held discussions while trying to comprehend the coach’s intention, used the tactic board to simulate the drills, and clarify the roles of each coach. These discussions would go until late at night.

Through the actual training sessions, I was able to obtain many new findings and hints from the training plans developed by each group. We were soon able to hold high-quality discussions following the training sessions, as every participant approached each session with an open mind and desire to learn new things.

On the final day, we held scrimmages to check on the changes made through the training sessions. From the pre-match meeting to the actual game management, I found many aspects I need to improve on.

Although the course was limited to just five days, there were so many new findings from this course.

From next week, we will be working on our presentation skills online. We will continue to work hard to obtain the necessary skills to become a coach.

Lastly, I would like to thank the players of the Edogawa University football team for helping us conduct the practical coaching sessions throughout the five day course. We would also like to thank the staffs of J-Village for preparing the facility while following measures to prevent the spread of the infection. Thank you very much.

Next time we will share the report of Mr. SHIRAI Hiroyuki (Sagan Tosu).
