Comment

OIWA Go, Head Coach U-22 Japan National Team
The Asian Games immediately follow the AFC U23 Asian Cup Qatar 2024™ Qualifiers, making for a demanding schedule, but we selected the best possible players who were willing to accept the challenge. It's a tough schedule, but we will do everything in our power to win the title. Because every player comes from a different team and background, we want to keep everyone on the same page and create an environment where players can express their character on the pitch. I want the players to give it their all on the pitch in order to win the championship. We intend to raise the team's overall standard by one or two notches through this competition. We have sought a high level team to win the championship and University students were always part of the large group, so we feel that we have made a solid selection. Because winning this event has always been our main objective, we didn't want to field a team made up exclusively of university students. I hope the selected players will recognise their obligation to the national team and embrace it.
