Comment of Head Coach OIWA Go

This European tour will see us take on Ukraine and Uzbekistan. We faced Ukraine in Japan in 2024, and they are a very well-balanced side, defensively organised in the way many European teams are, but also packed with talented individuals capable of creating a wide range of attacking threats. As they continue preparing for qualification for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship, these matches will provide an excellent test and valuable experience for our players as we continue to grow as a team.

We understand that Uzbekistan are also building towards the Asian Games in September. Since we too are aiming to win the Asian Games, I believe these matches will give both sides an opportunity to compete in an environment much closer to the intensity and demands of the real thing.

Across these two matches, we want to play positively and with confidence, without fear of the challenge ahead. At the same time, we hope to further improve the team’s cohesion and overall level as we continue our preparations for the Asian Games in September.
