Concept is “SUNRISE” New away uniform unveiled at Nadeshiko Japan uniform presentation
24 March 2023
The Adidas “Japan Women's National Team 2023 Uniform presentation” took place on Thursday 23 March at Japan National Stadium in Tokyo, where the Japan Women's National Team 2023 away uniform was unveiled.
Ms. KAGEYAMA Yuka of Hinatazaka46, who served as the MC, introduced SASAKI Norio, Chairperson of JFA Women's Committee, onto the stage, where he commented, “In 2023, Nadeshiko Japan will take the baton from SAMURAI BLUE (Japan National Team) to compete in the FIFA Women's World Cup Australia/ New Zealand 2023™. We are delighted to be able to present the new uniforms that will be used in the FIFA Women's World Cup™ at this time.” Following these remarks, Mr. KANEKO Shota, Category Planning Manager of Adidas Japan KK, took the stage to introduce the away uniforms designed exclusively for the women's national team.
It was explained that the new away uniform had been designed based on the concept of “SUNRISE” as a symbol of renewed determination to “become world champions again,” and that the colour “glow purple” was used to represent the magical morning sky in a gradation of purple and pink. UEKI Riko (Nippon TV Tokyo Verdy Beleza) then appeared on the stage and showed how the away uniform is actually worn.
In addition, KOBAYASHI Rikako (Nippon TV Tokyo Verdy Beleza) appeared wearing the home uniform with a new women's silhouette, and FUJINO Aoba (Nippon TV Tokyo Verdy Beleza) in the new training wear. Commenting on the new away uniform, Fujino said, “It's very cute and captures the friendly vibe of Nadeshiko Japan,” while Ueki said, “I've never seen such a design before and I'm looking forward to playing in it,” followed by Kobayashi, who commented, “The fact that it's designed with the concept of becoming world champions again gives us a sense of determination.”
Chairman Sasaki and Head Coach IKEDA Futoshi of Nadeshiko Japan also took the stage for a talk session addressing their commitment to the FIFA Women's World Cup™ to be held in July this year. Coach Ikeda expressed his enthusiasm for the FIFA Women's World Cup™, saying, “We are going to give it our all and show our passion for the FIFA Women's World Cup™.”
Later, as a surprise for Kobayashi, Ueki, and Fujino, video messages from SAMURAI BLUE's ENDO Wataru (VfB Stuttgart/Germany), ASANO Takuma (VfL Bochum/Germany), MACHINO Shuto ( Shonan Bellmare), OSAKO Keisuke (Sanfrecce Hiroshima), BANGNAGANDE Kashif (FC Tokyo), MITOMA Kaoru (Brighton & Hove Albion FC/England) were shown. With the support of the SAMURAI BLUE players, Nadeshiko Japan will take on the FIFA Women's World Cup™ with these new uniforms.
The players then made their way to the pitch for a photo session with the official ball and ball stand of the KIRIN CHALLENGE CUP 2023 against Uruguay on Friday 24 March to conclude the event.

I was visualising our players playing and celebrating on the pitch in their new away uniforms. It made me feel the strength of women’s football and renewed my determination to help the team win and promote the sport.
