Marcelo Mendes, Beach Soccer Japan National Team Head Coach, holds his 8th clinic in Kakegawa, Shizuoka

Marcelo Mendes and Moreira Ozu held their eighth beach soccer clinic of this year at Daito Beach Sports Park in Kakegawa, Shizuoka,
two days on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 August. They conducted lecture and practical training for players and coaches from Tokai region prefectures.

As this was the last clinic of 2014, Marcelo, Head Coach and Moreira Ozu conducted training passionately more than ever. To responding to that lecture, participants raised question actively and held discussion and demonstrated competitive games in practical training as if it were an official match.

The clinic has been held since April when Marcelo took the offer. Everywhere we visited, everyone greeted us with the warm welcome and the operations went smoothly without accident or trouble thanks to all the sincere supports given to us by people there. And it was our pleasure meeting so many enthusiastic players across Japan and managed to hold series of intensive clinics. Thank you for supporting us.

Head Coach Comment

The participants of the clinic this time were fast learner of tactics and remember fist day lesson well, and demonstrated what they have learned at intra-squad match held in second day. Only one team can participate in All Japan Championship from Tokai region but I saw many teams have superb prospects. I would hope they will keep on training and become the team to pose some threat to competitive teams.

It was last clinic which has been held since April. I met many players who have a potential everywhere I go. Actually, some players were called up to National Team camp and became regular members from the clinics. I want to remind you the door to National Team is always open and waiting for a new talented player to come along. I look forward to watching many players.

I found the pace of both lecture and practical training was right as instructor checked our understanding frequently. Playing with other team’s players, it was very good experience for me and gave me chance to realize something I am not good at. Usually I take part in the same sort of training and never had a tactical training before. Taking up tactical training introduced at this clinic, I am planning to hold training for checking which tactics fit my team well. We have been playing by self-study but we were pleased to listen to professional and informative talks. I believe we found many issues of our team and want to clear it up one by one for raising our skills.

SUZUKI Masato (RAVIR Shizuoka)
I found the structure of the clinic - take lecture and do practical training, was easy to understand as I could implement things just learned. Video lesson was also effective because the explanation was clear and persuasive. We used to play scoop, trap and the way of running in the way we like but I want to acquire these skills with much attention.
This clinic help me raised the positive stance of my attitude on beach soccer and beginning to think I want to be a National Team member and play there. Touching the ball and holding more training, I want to keep on studying it.

TAHARA Noriyuki(Kamimoto Gakuen)
I could solve things I had question at this clinic. I want to tell them and share with my teammates. I was really motivated to get direct lesson by top tier persons Marcelo, head coach, and Ozu. I am still at level far from National Team but I want to become a player to be called up by National Team someday by working on training one by one.

SAKATA Shota(Tricolore)
I learned many things taking direct and detailed lessons by National Team head coach. It was easy to understand lecture, the head coach was sitting close to participants. Usually we don’t have a full member in training but at this clinic I played with other teams’ players in Shizuoka and came to know the standard of skill and realized what I need to improve. Many players in our team are still new and I am going to begin with the basics of running.
